CAZCANES WATER
Cazcanes sources natural artesian water for our tequila. The water starts off as rain or snow high up on the pristine peaks of the San Pedro de los Landeros mountains. It slowly travels through natural minerals deep within the volcanic mountains before emerging at the Navichi springs.

NATURAL YEAST FERMENTATION
The ‘piñas’ are then cooked, and crushed to extract and concentrate their flavors.  Next comes fermentation using natural, wild yeast, and then distillation in our alembic stills.

CAZCANES AGAVE
Hand-selected Weber Blue Lowland (Tequila Valley) Agave grown in Volcanic Tufa Soil at 4000-6000 ft is harvested during peak sugar levels to deliver a distinct Cazcanes taste.

Cazcanes Tequila No.7 Reposado is the first Reposado offering from Mr. Collin Edwards, the award-winning Master Distiller of Cazcanes Tequila. Only 600 have been produced. Of which, only 300 have been available in the California market Starting July 2018. This particular blend was aged in heavy charred American oak barrels for 4 months to produce a defined taste and robust body. It also was awarded a Bronze Medal from the 2018 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

While Patrn's 100% Weber Blue Agave is grown on farms spread throughout the Highlands region, these plants are matured just steps from the Hacienda Patrn distillery, representing the first such harvest from this special terroir.

Catrina History

La Catrina was a zinc etching originally created in 1910 by Mexican printmaker Jose Guadalupe Posada. He was known for his images of political and social satire. She became a symbolic figure during the time of the Mexican Revolution. ​La Catrina is often associated with Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead), a pre-Colombian Meso-American observace of death and life that is celebrated on November 2nd in all of Mexico, the Yucatan Peninsula and parts of Central America. La Catrina in her elegance broad-brimmed hat first appeared in a satirical engraving that mocked those who pretended to be of a higher class, even if that meant starving, and going painfully thin, or without flesh. To this day, La Catrina continues to be a symbolic figure. She has become part of the imagery for Dia de los muertos but also she can be found in books, cartoons, posters, figurines and artwork spanning over 100 years. This artwork was created around 1910-1913 by José Guadalupe Posada in an etching called “La Calavera Catrina,” originally known as “La Calavera Garbancera.” She was created as a satirical image. Now we adapt Mexico's great folflore into a one of a kind Tequila Package, Dona Celia Tequila.
