The Japanese dragon is a powerful being that controls water and rains. They are believed to bring luck and symbolize power, strength, and authority, and are much more human and demonstrate human emotions and experiences. Ryūjin, the deity of the sea in Japanese myths, is one of the most important of all Japanese dragons. He represents the power of the ocean and was a patron of Japan. Considering that the sea and seafood are important for Japanese livelihood, Ryūjin plays a significant role in Japanese culture and history, and is believed to be one of the forefathers of the Japanese imperial dynasty. Recognizing the most significant dragon in Japanese culture gave rise to the bold and vibrant flavors of the Ryūjin whiskey.

Fuyu is Japanese for winter their handcrafted blended whisky is sourced from several distilleries, on Honshu island. FUYU is a powerful blend, and expression of the Japanese cellar masters blending mastery. This Japanese whisky is a blend of malts and grains from distilleries on Japan's Honshu island. A staggering 8 out of the total 9 distilleries are located on Honshu. Bottled at 40% ABV, this special label illustrates a giant dragon-like creature with several limbs. You can expect notes of caramel, vanilla and exotic notes of ginger, plum wine and an uncanny umami like quality.

It represents the artistry and dedication of the Matsui Distillery, making it a cherished choice for whisky connoisseurs seeking a luxurious and well-aged expression.

In 1895, Masataka Taketsuru the father of Japanese Whisky was born in the small town of Takehara, Japan. At the time, Masataka's family owned a sake brewery, and in preparing to carry on the family trade, Masataka studied chemistry and biology at Osaka Technical High School. After graduating from high school, Masataka showed more interest in whisky than sake, and in 1918, he enrolled at the University of Glasgow in Scotland, becoming the first Japanese ever to study the art of whisky-making. While in Scotland, Masataka took chemistry courses during the day while apprenticing at distilleries at night, learning to distill and blend whisky first-hand at some of Scotland's most prestigious distilleries. In 1920, Masataka returned to Japan, and within the decade, had produced the country's first single malt whisky. In 1934, Masataka moved to the town of Yoichi and opened the doors to Nikka Whisky Co. In 1960, as the Yoichi Distillery was reaching capacity, Masataka began searching for another suitable location in Japan to open a second distillery. Following a three-year search, Masataka found a wide forest valley at the junction of the Hirosegawa and Nikkawagawa rivers. The localized humidity from the rivers and surrounding hills, together with the quality of water from Nikkawagawa River, created the perfect location for a second distillery, which he named Miyagikyo. Nikka Days is a celebration of the distillery's unique position somewhere between the east and west cultures, nature and humanity, tradition and innovation, where each day represents a learning opportunity. The smooth and gentle blended whisky is lightly peated and comes from Nikka's both main distilleries. It's a combination of grain and malt spirits: Coffey Grain, Miyagikyo Malt, as well as some Coffey Malt and Yoichi Malt. 

Kura The Whisky is a blended malt whisky produced by Helios and bottled at 40% ABV. It's made in the southernmost region of Japan and aged in American White Oak. The whisky is finished in Japanese rum casks. 

It has notes of sour and toasted grains, banana, cinnamon, and vanilla. It's described as fairly young, grainy, peaty, pungent, and spicy. It doesn't have an age statement. 

Kura The Whisky is a variation of a blended malt whisky that's finished in casks that previously held rum. 

Kaiyo is a Japanese Mizunara oak aged whisky. What makes this spirit so special is the bespoke oak barrel selection. Mizunara oak is some of the most expensive wood available. The impeccable character of the wood imparts distinctive notes onto every spirit. However, its delicate wood grain nature makes it quite challenging to cooper. Kaiyo whisky is aged in handmade, bespoke Mizunara oak casks. These barrels are crafted from slow growth, air-seasoned wood from hand-selected trees. After the whisky is aged, it is finished at sea, imparting even more distinctive character the spirit. This unique sea voyage departs from Osaka Japan, and the journey can take up to 3 months. This whisky gets its exquisite character first and foremost from the Mizunara oak. The oak's lactones ratio and vanilla impart sweet, spicy, exotic notes of incense, sandalwood, and coconut. Other notes like tea and subtle hints of citrus appear all throughout the nose and palate.

The Fukano Distillery stands in Hitoyoshi City on the island of Kyushu, Japan. It was founded in 1823 and is located in the Kyushu mountain region that is famed for its pristine nature and exceptionally-pure water. The first distillery in the Kumamoto Prefecture to mature the traditional Japanese rice spirit shochu in barrels, this process was first put into practice by Chizuru Fukano, the current president's mother. Now in their fifth generation of Fukanos, the distillery is led by Shigeruriku Fukano. Their whisky is produced using a combination of malted and unmalted rice using a pot still. The limited-edition releases see only a few casks bottled each year, which include spirits that have been aged in various oak casks. Distilled, matured, and bottled in Japan, Fukano whiskies are only sold in export markets. The Fukano 2020 Edition is bottled at 81.2 proof and boasts a complex profile with tropical fruit, rice, spices, vanilla, and caramel notes. 

Yoichi Single Malt is a range of single malt expressions from the Yoichi Distillery, Nikka's first distillery built in 1934. The founder Masataka Taketsuru chose the town of Yoichi in Hokkaido because of the similar environmental conditions to Scotland, where he learned whisky-making. Yoichi malts are described as bold and strong with refined peaty notes and smokiness brought by the traditional direct coal-fired distillation. Sea breeze from the Ishikari Bay delivers a briny hint to the whisky during maturation.

Each bottle’s whisky is aged for a minimum of 3 years in ex-bourbon casks and features some of the most unique flavors Japanese whisky has to offer: gentle oak, no peat, honeycomb, tropical fruit, and toasted coconut.

Perfectly balanced with heather honey, sweet caramel, Japanese plum, balanced oak, peat and toffee with hints of sandalwood and green tea. Non chill-filtered at 48% alcohol to keep its natural flavors at maximum. Blended at its peak flavor, rather than a predetermined ratio. As a result, each batch is unique and limited with stocks.

OUR CITY

Our story takes place in a truly ancient land, one of spiritual and carnal harmony, in the temples of Nara in Japan. The ancient capital of Japan, Nara holds many temples from the 8th century that imperturbably give the holy capital its power.

OUR SHRINE

Ōmiwa Shrine in Nara is one of Japan's oldest extant Shinto shrines. It is a tutelary shrine of the Japanese alcohol producers. Most well-known alcohol producer families are in Nara and these families have a centuries-old tradition of producing alcohol for Ōmiwa.
The alcohol produced by these families is served as blessings at Shinto temples.

OUR NAME

The Ōmiwa Shrine lies at the foot of Mount Miwa, a holy mountain guarded by the shrine. Mount Miwa has many legends, and has been worshiped from ancient times as a sacred Mountain of the God. Inspired by beautiful breezes coming from the Mountain of the God, we named our whisky KAMIKI whereby "KAMI" means "GOD" and "IKI" means "BREATH".

Kaiyo is a Japanese Mizunara oak aged whisky. What makes this spirit so special is the bespoke oak barrel selection. Mizunara oak is some of the most expensive wood available. The impeccable character of the wood imparts distinctive notes onto every spirit. However, its delicate wood grain nature makes it quite challenging to cooper. Kaiyo whisky is aged in handmade, bespoke Mizunara oak casks. These barrels are crafted from slow growth, air-seasoned wood from hand-selected trees. After the whisky is aged, it is finished at sea, imparting even more distinctive character to the spirit. This unique sea voyage departs from Osaka Japan, and the journey can take up to 3 months. This whisky gets its exquisite character first and foremost from the Mizunara oak. This is a 7 year old malt whisky, made on a coffey still in Japan, and aged in bourbon barrels before spending6 months aging on the ocean in Japanese Mizunara oak.

Founded in 1952, the Kumesen Syuzo Distilling Co began distilling spirits made from Long Grain Indica Rice and fermented with native Black Koji. By 1989 Kumesen began to finish their product in Bourbon casks and Kujira was born. Kujira Ryukyu Whisky 25 Year is a premium Japanese whisky that has gained a reputation for its exceptional quality and unique flavor profile. It is produced by the Helios Distillery, which is located on the southern island of Okinawa in Japan. The Kujira Ryukyu Whisky 25 Year is made from a blend of rare, aged whiskies that have been matured for at least 25 years in carefully selected oak casks. The aging process is a critical aspect of the production process and is carefully monitored to ensure that the whisky achieves the perfect balance of flavor and aroma.

Tasting notes

Rich and complex, with notes of vanilla, oak, and honey, as well as a hint of smoke and a subtle touch of fruit. On the palate, the whisky is smooth and full-bodied, with flavors of caramel, toffee, and dried fruit. There are also subtle notes of spice and a hint of oak, which add to the overall complexity and depth of flavor. The finish is long and satisfying, with a lingering warmth and a pleasant sweetness that leaves a lasting impression. It is a whisky that is best enjoyed neat, or with a small amount of water to help open up the flavors and aromas.

HIBIKI "BLOSSOM HARMONY" 2022 LIMITED EDITION

Hibiki means “Resonance” in Japanese. From its launch in 1989 to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of Suntory, Hibiki embodies the Suntory philosophy to live in harmony with nature and people. As the Founding House of Japanese Whisky and A House of Master Blenders, the House of Suntory has gone to great lengths to explore the breadth and depth of what Harmony can mean for a blend. Every Hibiki expression is one of the most sought after blends in the world where every Hibiki expression is meticulously crafted for us to discover a different kind of Harmony. Achieving the right balance and orchestration proved to be a great challenge from the start since the Sakura cask is one with strong character that can easily become overbearing.

After much trial and error, we found that the grain whiskies finished in the Sakura cask best elevated the overall balance as a Blossoming Harmony slowly unfolding. The end result is a particularly unique expression of Hibiki. The invitation of an enticing floral bouquet, followed by the signature Hibiki depth and complexity of honey, candied orange peel, jasmine and chocolatey decadence, all climaxing to a surprising finish of bitter sweet spicy notes.
