The Glenlivet's Master Distiller, Alan Winchester, has a wealth of quality casks to choose from when creating this complex expression, each of which has rested a minimum of 18 years in oak. The mix of casks - American and European oak, first and second fill - all play their parts to create this whisky, our single most awarded expression, and its unique character. The European oak adds spicy notes and complexity and the first-fill American oak casks add the tropical fruitiness that makes it unmistakably The Glenlivet in style. Its golden hue bears testimony to its 18 years very well spent maturing.

In 1263, Colin of Kintail, Chief of the Clan Mackenzie, took a bold decision to stand up and be counted, and felled a charging stag which attacked King Alexander III of Scotland. In return for saving his life, the grateful King gifted the 12-pointed Royal Stag emblem to the Mackenzie Clan as a reward. When descendants of the Mackenzie Clan took over the ownership of The Dalmore distillery in 1867, they continued to honour this brave act and proudly put the 12-pointed Royal Stag on the bottle. To this day, the Stag still adorns each and every bottle of The Dalmore.

To celebrate the pioneering and innovative values of the Mackenzie Clan, our Master Distiller has painstakingly created the only single malt in the world to unite a unique six cask finish for one outstanding achievement. Spirits matured in ex-bourbon casks, Matusalem oloroso sherry butts, Madeira barrels, Marsala casks, Port pipes and Cabernet Sauvignon wine barriques are combined in perfect harmony to create a uniquely complex, yet smooth single malt. A succulent medley of exotic fruits, mango, pineapple, blood orange, and ripe red berries are complemented by fresh herbs, aromatic oils, and wood spices. Vanilla sweetness and treacle toffee add to the richness, while walnuts and toasted oak acknowledge the contribution from a supreme cask selection.

Taste
Incredibly rich in texture with a luxuriously fruity introduction. Ripe red-fleshed plums, black cherries, and summer berries are balanced by the prickle of a hint of chili oil. The taste evolves as cherry menthol introduces vanilla and cinnamon sweet spices combined with red pepper, nutmeg, and toasted oak for an intriguing complexity.

Finish
A satisfyingly long balance of ripe fruit and wood spices, worthy of a journey of nearly three decades.

Colonel Edmund Haynes Taylor, Jr. is widely considered one of the founding fathers of the bourbon industry, fighting for the Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897, nearly three decades after he purchased what is now called Buffalo Trace Distillery. During his time, Taylor implemented several innovative methods still used today, including climate controlled aging warehouses. Many of the barrels selected for the E.H. Taylor, Jr. Single Barrel are aged in Warehouse C, which was built by Taylor in 1881 and proven to be an excellent aging warehouse. Each barrel is hand-picked and Bottled in Bond at 100 proof to honor its namesake.

TASTING NOTES

The aroma carries lightly toasted oak, with dried figs and butterscotch. One sip brings flavors of sweetness balanced with tobacco and dark spices. William Larue Weller developed his original bourbon recipe with wheat, rather than rye. Bottled at the same 114 proof the spirit was when it entered into the barrel, this non-chill filtered wheated bourbon forgoes chill filtration to preserve all the naturally occurring residual oils and flavors that occur during the distillation and aging process (potentially making it appear cloudy at cold temperatures). This bourbon balances a rich mouth feel, with robust notes of vanilla and oak. A whiskey that satisfies the demand of the non-chill filtered whiskey enthusiasts, honoring the man who made wheated bourbon legendary.

TASTING NOTES

Steve McCurry has been one of the most iconic voices in contemporary photography for more than 30 years, with scores of magazine and book covers, over a dozen books, and countless exhibitions around the world to his name.

He followed our journey of The Macallan cask from its origins in the forests of America and Europe, through the cooperages and Bodegas of Spain, and to our distillery in Speyside, Scotland. There the casks meet our new make spirit and are patiently matured until they are harmoniously united to create a distinctive single malt with a sweeter, warmer taste and character.

It is the oak that makes the greatest contribution to the quality, natural colour and distinctive aromas and flavours at the heart of this single malt whisky. Once filled, the maturing spirit remains undisturbed in the same casks for the necessary number of years it needs to be worthy of its destined Macallan expression. Rarity reflected in every drop. Johnnie Walker King George V has been created to celebrate the monarch who granted us our first Royal Warrant in 1934. Our makers drew on our archives to hand-select whiskies from distilleries that existed during his reign. This includes some of the rarest in our reserves, including irreplaceable casks from the now-closed Port Ellen distillery. Much like its namesake, it has a great depth of character and elegant reserve.

Tasting Notes

SMELL: Sweet, smoky aromas from Port Ellen greet you. It’s followed by notes of orange, raisins, figs and cinnamon.

TASTE: Abundant spice and dried fruits from Speyside and Highland whiskies are perfectly balanced with vanilla. They release layers of sweet fruits, dark chocolate, toffee and roast nuts.

FINISH: Port Ellen gives a coastal smokiness that gathers momentum through the long finish.

Don Pilar Extra Añejo is a most extraordinary tequila. Intense, with velvet richness, sweet oak aroma, and a deep, amber-crimson color.

OUR STORY
Our story began in 1942, when a young Don Julio González saw a unique opportunity in the production of tequila. He didn’t have much, but what he did have was passion, and after sharing his vision with a powerful local businessman he was granted a loan to create his first tequila distillery. It was this unrelenting passion for excellence that inspired his creation of the world’s first luxury tequila.

DON JULIO’S MISSION
Don Julio González revolutionized the world of tequila by choosing quality over quantity, painstakingly planting each agave further apart to allow proper room to grow and fully mature before harvesting. He would then select only the most succulent portions of the piña, before steaming them for 72-hour cycles. When it came time to bottle his creation, he broke with generations of traditionally tall Tequila bottles typically hidden under tables. He knew his new spirit had no business hiding on the floor, so he designed a shorter tequila bottle for his guests to pass around the table while still being able to see each other.

Celebrated in exclusive cocktail bars, restaurants and nightclubs, the iconic Don Julio 1942® Tequila is the choice of connoisseurs around the globe. Produced in small batches and aged for a minimum of two and a half years, Don Julio 1942® Tequila is handcrafted in tribute to the year that Don Julio González began his tequila-making journey.

Sugar skulls or calaveras has always been a significant part of Aztec and their descendant traditions in the Day of the Dead celebrations. Back then sugar skulls represented deceased ones, often with written names on the forehead of the skull. The oldest distillery on the Isle of Skye, Talisker Single Malt Scotch Whisky has been “Made By the Sea” since 1830. In fact, few single malts tell the story of their origin better. Its smell and taste instantly connect the drinker with the rugged coastal environment. Every sip is a taste of the Isle of Skye itself – a powerhouse; challenging but adored, once discovered rarely left. Like a warm welcome from a wild sea.

The Talisker 30 is elegant and complex, with the classic Talisker hallmarks of pepper and smoke in a softer and subtler way.

Appearance: Full gold.

Nose: Vanilla, spice and a grapey, red wine note with faint smoke behind. Adding water softens things and adds a spicy maritime note.

Body: Medium.

Palate: Lively yet mature delight, like the favorite uncle you don’t see very often. Immediately sweet, rich, peppery and hot, with just the right amount of balancing bitterness and salt with no rough edges. An underlying woody smokiness brings everything together.

Finish: Quite long and warming, gently drying, with a hint of smoke in the moreish maritime aftertaste.
