Strega Liqueur, born in Benevento, was created in 1860 by a clever, forward-looking entrepreneur. Strega, obtained by the distillation of about 70 herbs and spices from all over the world, is a whole natural product. Its unique, yet versatile flavour can be enjoyed in many ways: neat, icy or mixed in more sophisticated long drinks and cocktails.

Strega liqueur is one of the most famous Italian liqueurs , it is unique and unmistakable for its taste, thanks to the exclusive use of natural ingredients. Its processing starts with the grinding of about 70 herbs and spices, they are being selected from all over the world, and each one of them has unique properties. Among these herbs we find Ceylon cinnamon, Florentine iris, Italian Apennine juniper, Samnite mint, which grows along the riverbanks in the whole region. The liqueur gets its characteristic yellow colour from the precious Saffron that is added to the herb distillate. Strega liqueur is aged in ash barrels over a long period of time to ensure a perfect blending of the different aromas.The resulting distillate is 40% proof and only after the ageing process is the liqueur bottled and distributed all over the world.

Our liquor was born in 1885 with the name Elisir Lungavita and immediately received notable recognition. 11 years later, marking the marriage of the charming Princess Elena of Montenegro to Prince Vittorio Emanuele III, Stanislao decided to dedicate his storied elixir to her royal highness, changing it’s name to Amaro Montenegro.

In Saronno, Italy, an innkeeper made a special amber liqueur for a painter in 1600. Rediscovered centuries later, it became Disaronno Originale. This amaretto, originally bitter almonds, now uses fruit stones for its nutty flavor. It's a key cocktail ingredient, also enhancing desserts and savory dishes. Despite name changes and bottle redesigns, its recipe allegedly remains the same, blending apricot kernel oil, caramelized sugar, herbs, spices, and fruits for its unique bittersweet taste.

Girolamo Luxardo moved to what is today known as Zadar, Croatia in 1817 as a consular representative of Sardinia. It was his wife that became enamored with the local Dalmatian liqueur, the Rosolio Maraschino. In 1821 Girolamo opened a distillery and soon after received a certificate from the emperor of Austria that acknowledged its exceptional quality. Their liqueurs became known far and wide along with their growing and impressive range which included the Original Maraschino Cherries, Limoncello, and a cherry liqueur. By 1913 the company had grown considerably, opening a new state-of-the-art distillery. The operation along with the Luxardo bloodline barely made it through the Second World War, but a new distillery with its very own cherry orchards thrives today in Torreglia, the Veneto region of Northeast Italy. It employs traditional copper-pot stills while constantly upgrading and investing to stay at the forefront of the industry. The company remains family-owned and is ran by the fifth, sixth, and seventh generations of the Luxardo family. Their flagship Maraschino liqueur and a range of award-winning products are a cocktail staple, along with cherries, syrups, wines, brandies, and many others. Luxardo Maraschino Originale is made according to the 1821 recipe, using Luxardo marasca cherries. After they are harvested, they are placed in alcohol together with some leaves and branches and left in vats for 3 years. After that, both the liquid and solid parts are distilled with only the heart of the distillate going into ash-wood vats to mature. The final step is the addition of simple syrup, which transforms the distillate into a liqueur and brings the proof down to 64. It's perfect as a digestif, an invaluable cocktail ingredient, and goes particularly well with gelato or fruit.

ABOUT THE PRODUCT
Its name comes from the island of Curaçao where a distillery used a particular species of orange called Laraha or Curaçao orange, a green, fibrous and bitter fruit that gives the product its taste specificity. The idea of the distiller to color the product in brilliant blue contributes to distinguish and register the Blue Curaçao as an essential ingredient in drinks.

Maker Notes

The idea of creating a coffee liqueur came to life after one of our Master Distiller Jason MacIsaac's usual morning strolls for coffee, with the aroma of roasting beans inspiring his vision for the flavor profile. Born out of our love for all things java, this liqueur is made from premium coffee beans roasted by our favorite neighborhood café, The Stick in the Mud. The distillation process extracts the complexities of the coffee beans and transforms those flavors into a well-balanced, semi-sweet liqueur that’s ideal for any time of day. In the late 1950s, the Medley Distillery began producing a bourbon named Ezra Brooks in Owensboro, Kentucky. The distillery, which was founded in 1901, traced its origins back to the birth of Kentucky bourbon; while Reverend Elijah Craig is usually credited with producing the first bourbon whiskey at his mill in Lebanon in 1789, the Medley family began distilling whiskey at the same time in the adjacent county in Kentucky. In fact, except during the thirteen years during which distillation was outlawed in the United States, a member of the Medley family has been operating a distillery continuously since 1812. Today, Ezra Brooks Straight Rye Whiskey continues to be handcrafted in the heart of Kentucky. Bottled and aged in the old fashioned way for an unmistakable, unforgettable mellow flavor. This bourbon liqueur has sweet floral notes with undertones of vanilla, cinnamon, and fine wood. The palate is subtle, with notes of vanilla, floral tones and a warm, lengthy, buttery finish.
