Handcrafted With a Weather Eye

Bender’s is a complex yet accessible corn whiskey that’s produced on San Francisco’s Treasure Island. Sourced from a distillery not far from where one of our founders was born, each batch of Bender’s is unique.

Our second batch of Old Corn has been aged for a minimum of 9 years in charred oak barrels and is blended in small batches of 2000 bottles or less. Our take on a classic bourbon style whiskey, Old Corn boasts subtle notes of toasted wood, vanilla, and caramel with a rich honeyed finish. Perfect in an old fashioned over a large ice cube, or with ginger beer, each bottle is crafted to warm the discriminating palate.

True Blue 100 is made from the same select barrels of our blue corn whisky that have always gone into our True Blue Cask Strength, diluted down to 100 proof. As such, many Bourbon drinkers, in particular, may gravitate to this powerfully subtle dram.  Since the Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897, ‘100 proof’ has long stood for quality and authenticity. True Blue 100 carries on that tradition. 100% of the whisky in this bottle was born, raised, and bottled at Balcones–from mash to glass. More approachable than full cask-strength whisky, True Blue 100 retains the depth and complexity of over-proof spirits with the softer edges, supple textures and fuller fruitiness that slight dilution can bring. Rich notes of honeyed citrus, stone fruit and cinnamon and a rich, roasted corn palate. Perfect “as is” or with as much water as you prefer.

Tasting Notes

NOSE: ripe apricots & mango with cinnamon, singed sugar on top of cocoa and dried chillies

TASTE: deep oak and char, black tea and salty baking chocolate, old leather, roasted corn and coffee

FINISH: lingering dried cherries & blackberries followed by toasty bitter chocolate with pleasant oak tannins

Situated along the banks of the East River, Kings County Distillery is New York City's oldest operating whiskey distillery and the first distillery in New York City since Prohibition. Wedged between Williamsburg and Vinegar Hill, Colin Spoelman and David Haskell, the master distillers at Kings County, make hand-crafted bourbon and moonshine out of the 113-year old Paymaster Building at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. A typewriter the two distillers found on the sidewalk in Williamsburg is used to make the labels that adorn their clear, flask-like bottles, while a hairdryer (made by Revlon) is used to afix each bottle seal. Handwritten scrawls on a chalkboard keep track of different batches, and mesh laundry bags are used as strainers. Before white whiskey, there was moonshine, otherwise known as whiskey before it is aged in a barrelthough the word can also mean any illegally-made spirit. Kings County Distillery's Moonshine is a corn whiskey made from 80% New York State organic corn and 20% malted barley. It is double distilled and reduced to a smooth, drinkable 80 proof. Bright with a sweet slap of corn, this is a very respectable take on a classic American whiskey.

Aged in New American Oak barrels and made from Blue Corn. We combine a unique set of ingredients to achieve this lavishly rich bourbon.

Abasolo El Whisky De Mexico is crafted and distilled from 100% Mexican Cacahuazintle (kaka • wha • SINT • lay) corn, which has been cultivated and passed down for more than 200 generations by local farmers for its distinct, extraordinary flavor. 

The first Texas whisky on the market since Prohibition, Baby Blue is crafted from roasted blue corn. This rich and oily maize adds new sophistication to the corn whisky tradition while keeping the freshness and verve of classic American distilling. Intentionally youthful, Baby Blue captures the essence of this prized corn with a round nuttiness, roasted overtones and refined complexity. The mouthfeel is viscous with a soft finish. A true Texas original that we are delighted to share with the world.  

Tasting Notes

NOSE: melted butter, kettle corn, vanilla, toffee, cinnamon and nutmeg, fresh bread and honey, fresh ground coffee, baking chocolate

TASTE: tropical fruit, slight apricot, brown sugar, cotton candy, sweet tea with lemon, smoked chilis

FINISH: medium long warming, late cinnamon/leather spice, mint and green peppercorns

Kings County Distillery is a highly acclaimed craft distillery in New York City, known for producing award-winning whiskeys such as Bourbon, Peated Bourbon, and Empire Rye. They use only their own whiskey and never sell whiskey from other sources, with all production done onsite in Brooklyn. Their whiskeys have received recognition from various organizations and publications and are made using a blend of distilling practices from different cultures. Starting as the smallest commercial distillery in the US, Kings County is now located in the Brooklyn Navy Yard and named the American Distilling Institute's Distillery of the Year in 2016.

This whiskey best expresses our ambitions as distillers and can be considered the starting point for many of our more conventional whiskeys. 

The Backwoods Root Beer Story

The Backwoods Root Beer came along when my dad was in his teenage years. He and his friends would get some bottled root beer, grab some Nellie Collins corn whiskey, and then head out to the back woods to seek life’s adventures. At some point they would settle in and mix the bottled root beer and whiskey. According to our dad, these young men solved the world’s problems while on those life adventures...

This stu­ff is the real deal, bringing back the classic homemade spirits vibe that used to thrive in secret spots all over Appalachia. It’s raw, unaged corn whiskey that packs a punch, and you can taste the sweet corn goodness that screams old-school craftsmanship. It’s like a sip of history in every fiery kick.

Crafted in mind for the explorer, but don’t be shy to venture into this spirit! During the fermentation process, its vivid color & buttery fragrance flows through the distillery, trailing a sweet & complex aroma. Made from 100% Organic and non-GMO Blue Corn, also known as Hopi Maze, this whiskey stands alone in flavor. Blue corn is an heirloom varietal, dating back over 100 years, making it one of the oldest families of corn. By mashing this ancient grain we pulled a plethora of tannins, spice & creaminess you would miss in a classic yellow corn whiskey. You may even notice a higher viscosity & thick legs trailing down your glass as you sip! We aged this batch for 4 1/2 years in American Oak Char #3 barrels. 

Tasting Notes: Strong on the nose of dough and butter, finishing on the pallet with butterscotch, cream and walnut

Cocktail Recommendations: This deserves to be enjoyed by itself or with a cube of ice but if you really want to experience it in a cocktail, an Old Fashioned.
