In 1895, Masataka Taketsuru the father of Japanese Whisky was born in the small town of Takehara, Japan. At the time, Masataka's family owned a sake brewery, and in preparing to carry on the family trade, Masataka studied chemistry and biology at Osaka Technical High School. After graduating high school, Masataka showed more interest in whisky than in sake, and in 1918, he enrolled at the University of Glasgow in Scotland, becoming the first Japanese ever to study the art of whisky-making. While in Scotland, Masataka took chemistry courses during the day while apprenticing at distilleries at night, learning to distill and blend whisky first-hand at some of Scotland's most prestigious distilleries. In 1920, Masataka returned to Japan, and within the decade, had produced the country's first single malt whisky. In 1934, Masataka moved to the town of Yoichi and opened the doors to Nikka Whisky Co. In 1960, as the Yoichi Distillery was reaching capacity, Masataka began searching for another suitable location in Japan to open a second distillery. Following a three-year search, Masataka found a wide forest valley at the junction of the Hirosegawa and Nikkawagawa rivers. The localized humidity from the rivers and surrounding hills, together with the quality of water from Nikkawagawa River, created the perfect location for a second distillery, which he named Miyagikyo. This is Nikka's first ever vodka. Distilled through Nikka's signature Coffey stills, this vodka is extremely silky and smooth compared to other's in its class. This is the same traditional continuous still used to produce Nikka's famed whiskies. The vodka is crafted from corn and barley, blended meticulously and refined with white birch charcoal yielding an incredibly balanced mellow spirit. The result is a clean, refined spirit, a pure Nikka expression.

The Featherbone Factory built by E.K. Warren in the 19th century to manufacture women's corsets sits on the banks of Lake Michigan just across the Indiana border in Three Oaks, Michigan. As the factory changed hands in the twentieth century, it became a production site for everything from buggy whips to pickles. Today, it's home to Journeyman Distillery and Bill Welter, Journeyman's master distiller. Welter, who was formerly a banker in Indiana, began his journey when his family business was sold in 2006. After returning to the United States, Welter spent time producing and resting whiskey using a prominent organic & kosher distiller's facility in Chicago before opening the doors of his own distillery in Three Oaks with the intention to offer grain-to-glass spirits from day one/drop one. Journeyman offers handcrafted artisan spirits that have a true sense of place or terroir. They utilize all locally sourced Midwest organic grains and use unfiltered/untreated water from an underground aquifer in Three Oaks, MI.Red Arrow Vodka, named after the historic road, pays tribute to one of America's great highways. Journeyman is uniquely set up to create spirits from grain-to-bottle, Red Arrow Vodka grain-to-bottle is double distilled from high-quality organic wheat grown locally in Michigan.The water used in production comes directly from an underground aquifer in Three Oaks that undoubtedly adds character to this spirit. 

King St. Vodka, is a premium craft vodka founded by award-winning actress and dirty martini fan Kate Hudson. Made in Santa Barbara, CA, the name is inspired by Hudson's memories of living on King Street in NYC's Greenwich Village. After a particularly long day, I decided to host an impromptu cocktail party with my closest friends. As I prepared to whip up a batch of dirty vodka martinis I surveyed my bar, but I wasnt 100 percent happy with my options. Then I wondered, Are any of these vodkas founded by women I did some research, they werent. So, I decided to make my own just the way I like it! Says Hudson. King St. Vodka is produced under the watchful eye of Master Distiller, Ian Cutler. Infuse Spirits is aptly named. Seth Benhaim started infusing spirits in his garage in 2012 at the age of twenty-five. When he entered his first Vodka releases that year in the San Francisco Worlds Spirits Competition, his accomplishments made him the youngest ever winner of both Best in Show and Double Gold. Infuse Spirits has gone on to develop a wide range of products, including six Vodkas, a Bourbon, a Rye, and a range of six unique cocktail bitters. Infuse Spirits Vodkas are naturally flavored with spices and fruits. Thissilver-medalwinning infusion was launched in March, 2019 as Infuse Spirit's third vodka to have zero grams of sugar. At just 64-calories per ounce, this is a natural choice for those seeking citrus and flavor. Infuse's Grapefruit vodka has a pink/yellow hue with bright floral-grapefruit peel aromas. New Amsterdam Spirits from Modesto, California released New Amsterdam Vodka in 2011 after the success of their New Amsterdam Gin. It is now one of the fastest-growing vodka brands in the world. The brand is owned by E. & J. Gallo Winery and has accumulated numerous awards since its inception, finding a comfortable place with the young and trendy crowd. It's distilled 5 times and triple-filtered, smooth enough to be drunk straight, as well as a perfect base for cocktails. Named for the Dutch colony that was later renamed into New York City, the bottle features a skyline of the Big Apple. For their pink lemonade flavored vodka they teamed up with Barstool Sports' #1 NHL podcast, Spittin' Chiclets. The drink is named after Ryan Whitney, former professional hockey defenseman and current Spittin' Chiclets podcast co-host. The idea for the drink came about when the team was talking about their favorite vodka drinks and Ryan mentioned that his favorite way to drink New Amsterdam Vodka was with pink lemonade. The resulting drink is based on that: The vodka is infused with pink lemonade flavor, making for a fun sweet, zesty, and refreshing drink that perfectly balances its sweet and sour tastes.

Situated on the Kentucky River in Frankfort, Kentucky, Buffalo Trace Distillery takes its name from an ancient pathway that migrating buffalo used when traveling westward. The trail was well-known among Native Americans and was eventually used by pioneering settlers who crossed the Ohio River and followed the buffalo trace to the Western frontier. Buffalo Trace Distillery is the oldest continually operating distillery in the United States and includes the rich legacies of master distillers such as E.H. Taylor, Jr, George T. Stagg, Albert B. Blanton, Orville Schupp, and Elmer T. Lee. Today, the distillery is still family-owned, operating on the same 130 acres of land adjacent to the Kentucky River as it has for over 200 years. Trace Distillery's own Master Distiller Harlen Whitley built upon those centuries of knowledge and experience when crafting their Wheatley Vodka. It's a small-batch affair that is distilled 10 times using their one-of-a-kind micro still. It's a combination of a 7X distilled wheat recipe and a 7X distilled grain recipe. After they are combined, they are distilled an additional 3 times, triple-filtered, and bottled at 82 proof, which they found to be perfect for the spirit to show through when mixing cocktails. Yet the crisp, clean, and pure spirit is perfectly drinkable on its own, which is when its subtle hints of vanilla shine through.

Du Nord is the brainchild of Chris Montana, who decided to open a distillery in his home city of Minneapolis in 2013. It's a family-run operation that combines Chris' city-smarts with Shanelle Montana's country spirit. The craft spirits company has since grown considerably from a garage-type distilling project and works to bring minorities and members of underrepresented communities into their family. They offer tours of the Du Nord distillery and operate a Du Nord Cocktail room on the premises. Their lineup currently consists of the Du Nord L'Etoile sipping vodka, Fitzgerald Gin (a London dry and old world style hybrid), Apple Du Nord apple liqueur, Caf Frieda coffee liqueur, and Du Nord Mixed Blood Blended Whiskey. Each and every one of these has garnered awards from some of the most prestigious spirits competitions. Du Nord L'Etoile Vodka takes its name from Minnesota's motto which translates to "The Star of the North". Made from Minnesota sugar beets and corn from Shanelle Montana's family farm, it goes through 2 stills and 20 rectifying plates, before being charcoal filtered. The vodka was crafted with sipping in mind but works particularly well with citrusy cocktails as well. It has won several awards, including a Triple Gold at the MicroLiquor Spirits Awards and a Bronze Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

The Crystal Rain Distillery is located in Lake Forest, Illinois. It is there that the premium Kristone Handmade Vodka is produced using the finest organic winter wheat and water that has been purified using reverse osmosis to remove any contaminants and pollutants. This means no pesticides or toxins and ultra-clean water with no impurities. The exceptional smoothness of the spirit is owed to carbon, silver, and platinum filtration. The award-winning vodka is distilled using a unique hand-made copper-pot still that is custom-made specifically for vodka production. It's a twin-column design with a whopping 24 plates. Distilled from the highest-grade American corn, Monkey In Paradise Vodka is seven times distilled, seven times carbon-filtered to produce a pure, smooth, drinkable vodka (this is six times more than other vodkas). Monkey In Paradise Vodka is produced by demineralizing water with a proprietary five ppm reverse osmosis system. This extreme level of purification takes 11 gallons of water to produce one "paradise pure" gallon of water for the distillation process. After this meticulous process, the spirit is filtered in copper stills, reducing sulfites naturally to deliver a purer, cleaner taste. Finally, the vodka is charcoal filtered three times, allowing the alcohol and water to age and rest together at four different proof levels. Because the more you filter and allow for "age settling," the smoother the final product. This premium vodka is exceptionally elegant. Distilled and bottled in Palm Beach Florida using only premium ingredients, including non GMO corn. Monkey In Paradise Vodka was unanimously awarded to be the highest rated vodka in the World in 2017. 

Crystal Head Vodka is produced by Globefill Inc., situated in Newfoundland and Labrador in Canada. The company was founded and created by Dan Ackroyd and artist John Alexander, the artist who created the distinctive glass skull that the Vodka is bottled in. The company prides itself on being free from additives, unlike most vodkas in the industry. The vodka is filtered a hefty seven times through Herkimer diamonds, giving it an incredibly smooth flavor profile. Dan Aykroyd and John Alexander designed the bottle to symbolize life, reflecting power and enlightenment. Crystal Head Vodka is distilled from Ontario "peaches and cream" corn before being mixed with pristine glacial water from Newfoundland. The Herkimer stones that the vodka is filtered through are said to have healing properties, but it also imparts a distinctive vanilla sweetness to the Vodka that is enhanced by a spicy kick. The finish is lingering with an intense vodka burn. Crystal Head is bottled without additives, glycerol, citrus oils, sugars, or enhancers. The impressive Crystal Head Onyx is a different beast. Crafted with blue weber agaves from a single source in Mexico, it's blended with that pure Newfoundland water for a super-clean and sweeter finish. It's a luxurious black skull-shaped bottle with a matching embossed cap. Onyx is a tribute to the human journey, the dark crystal supposedly possessing the power to absorb negative energy.
