TASTING NOTES

The impact is intense, complex and fruity. The bouquet initially deliver the intense notes of mature fruit, such as cherries, plums and small black berries that are typical of Sangiovese. The impact is intense. At a first approach notes of cherry, plum and violet appear very powerful; subsequently it denotes strong aromas of tobacco, chocolate, cinnamon and black pepper. On the whole, this wine shows a very complex and powerful nose. Full-bodied, very powerful in the fruity tastes, with tannins that are elegant and well linked to a good acidity. The final is characterized by pleasant sensations of sweet tobacco. The aftertaste is particularly long and shows powerful notes of plums and more light aromas of clove.

The Balvenie DoubleWood is a 12 year old single malt which gains its distinctive character from being matured in two wood types. Over the period of maturation it is transferred from a traditional oak whisky cask to a first fill European oak sherry cask. Each stage lends different qualities to the resulting single malt ~ the traditional casks soften and add character, whilst the sherry wood brings depth and fullness of flavor.
