Eric Artiguelongue Bas-Armagnac Vintage 1974
Previously a cellar master with nearly thirty years experience blending and maturing Armagnac, Eric Artiguelongue set out in 2005 to create his own independent line of brandies. Artiguelongue represents the finest characters of the appellation by purchasing his Armagnacs from minute growers-distillers before aging them in oak barrels until they reach their peak quality and bottling everything by hand.
Eric Artiguelongue Bas-Armagnac Vintage 1974 is composed of 50% Ugni Blanc and 50% Baco grapes, with each variety fermented separately before being distilled just once through a 1,500 liter copper pot still. The Armagnac is coopered in Gascony Oak from the Monlezun Forest and blended progressively with distilled water incredibly, Eric Artiguelongue Bas-Armagnac's beginnings stretch back over forty years to when the spirit was first distilled, and only 90 of these bottles were imported to the U.S. in 2015.
As a result, Eric Artiguelongue Bas-Armagnac Vintage 1974 has a shiny dark gold color and a bright nose. Aromas of coffee, toasted bread, chocolate and dry fig appear gradually after aeration, leading to a supple palate and complex finish marked by spices, licorice and clove.
