We’re excited to announce the return of our popular Redbreast Bird Feeder Bottle for the fourth year running. Developed in collaboration with BirdLife International, this limited-edition bottle of Redbreast 12 year-old boasts an intricately designed festive green casing that transforms into a bird feeder, making a great edition to both your whiskey cabinet, and your garden.

TASTING NOTES

NOSE: A complex spicy and fruity aroma with toasted wood notes evident.

TASTE: Full flavoured and complex; silky smooth with a harmonious balance of spicy, fruity, sherry and toasted notes.

FINISH: Satisfyingly long, the complex flavours linger on the palate.

A careful balance of first fill and refill casks accentuates the assorted spices within Redbreast’s characteristic full and complex flavor, amplified through additional maturation.

Made from a mash of malted and unmalted barley and then triple distilled in copper pot stills, Redbreast 15 is comprised exclusively of Pot Still whiskeys matured in the finest oak casks for no less than 15 years. A careful balance of first fill and refill casks accentuates the assorted spices within Redbreast’s characteristic full and complex flavor.

Tasting Notes

Nose
A succulent medley of exotic fruits, mango, pineapple, blood orange, and ripe red berries are complemented by fresh herbs, aromatic oils, and wood spices. Vanilla sweetness and treacle toffee add to the richness, while walnuts and toasted oak acknowledge the contribution from a supreme cask selection.

Taste
Incredibly rich in texture with a luxuriously fruity introduction. Ripe red-fleshed plums, black cherries, and summer berries are balanced by the prickle of a hint of chili oil. The taste evolves as cherry menthol introduces vanilla and cinnamon sweet spices combined with red pepper, nutmeg, and toasted oak for an intriguing complexity.

Finish
A satisfyingly long balance of ripe fruit and wood spices, worthy of a journey of nearly three decades.

Redbreast is a single pot still whiskey, for which a combination of malted and un-malted barley are triple distilled in copper pot stills. The brand was created by W.A. Gilbey & Co, and bottled using whiskey sourced from Jameson's Bow Street distillery in Dublin. When Jameson amalgamated with Powers and Cork Distillers to form the Irish Distillers group, the Dublin distilleries were closed down, with all production moved to New Midleton distillery in Cork in 1975. Gilbey's discontinued the brand ten years later, but agreed to sell it to Irish Distillers who relaunched it in 1991.

Regarded as the definitive expression of traditional Single Pot Still whiskey, the genesis of Redbreast dates back to 1903 when John Jameson & Son entered into an agreement with the Gilbeys Wines & Spirits Import Company to supply them with new make spirit from their Bow St. Distillery. The custom of that era was that distillers sold bulk whiskey to ‘bonders’ who, being in the business of importing fortified wines such as sherry and port, had ample supplies of empty casks in which to mature new make whiskeys under bond. Single Pot Still whiskey is unique to Ireland in general and to the Midleton Distillery, Co. Cork, in particular, and is regarded as the quintessential style of Irish whiskey. Made from a mash of malted and unmalted barley and then triple distilled in traditional copper pot stills, Pot Still whiskeys are characterized by full, complex flavors and a wonderful creamy mouthfeel.
