Padre Azul Tequila Silver

Padre Azul

750 ml | 40% ABV
Tequila | Silver

Padre Azul is the passion project of co-founder HP Eder. Eder fell in love with Mexican culture after meeting Adrian Alvarez Maxemin, a woman from Guadalajara who was studying German at a university in Heidelberg. Eder inherited a passion for distillation from his father, and his family who is known for the production of high-quality Vogelbeerschnaps, a special Austrian liquor. Padre Azul was launched in 2016 by Eder and his compadres from Austria who saw a need for high-quality tequila in Europe, Eder's Mexican father-in-law playing a crucial role in the birth of the brand. The European tequila explorers set about on their quest for the perfect taste, finally discovering it at a small distillery in Amatitn, nearby the famous village of Tequila. The Austrian-Mexican brand Padre Azul's premium tequila is purely handmade, with every step of production meticulously carried out by Master Distiller Jesus Partida Melendez and his fellow craftsmen. The tequila is produced at the renowned Tres Mujeres distillery in Jalisco within the central Mexican Highlands. The tequilas are distilled from only the finest blue weber agave of the Amatitn, Lowlands, Jalisco, Mexico. Consisting of Blue Weber Agave species, they produce some of the highest quality tequilas. The agave is matured for eight years before it is harvested. The pias are smoked in traditional old brick kilns at a low temperature, preventing the sugars that are released from being burned. This gives the tequila a mellow aftertaste. After the pias are smoked special yeasts are used for fermentation. After distillation, Master Distiller Jesus Partida Melendez hand selects only the highest quality barrels to be bottled. Padre Azul Silver has a natural earthy, floral nature, and is bottled in a bespoke vial featuring a 270-gram skull inspired by Mexico's day of the deads culture for everlasting friendship.

Padre Azul Super Premium Tequila Anejo Especial Edition Dia De Los Muertos 2021 Tequila

Padre Azul

750 ml | 40% ABV
Tequila | Anejo

The Mexican Día de los Muertos – Day of the Dead – is a unique celebration of life and death, of eternal friendship, and the memory of those who have been lost. For several days, Mexico is transformed into an explosion of color and light: bright orange flowers, colorful decoration, candlelight... and the streets are full of ‘Catrinas’ – people dressed up as skeletons, with artfully painted faces in the style of the elegant skull ‘Calavera Catrina’.

Padre Azul wants to pay tribute to this wonderful tradition: From now on, we will honor the Day of the Dead with a limited special edition. We proudly present: the Día de los Muertos Limited Edition 2021.

High-end Tequila as a limited special edition

The Limited Edition 2021 definitely lives up to the Día de los Muertos: Tequila Añejo at its finest, 100% blue agave, matured for 18 months in hand-selected oak barrels, coming in a unique bottle designed by the Mexican artist José Parra. This limited special edition is a feast – for the eyes and the palate.

The artist: José Parra

The Mexican José Parra was born into a family of artists. That’s how he discovered his love for art and his own talent already at a young age. He immersed himself in the world of art at the Art Students League of New York, studied at the School of Arts at the University of Guadalajara, joined the atelier of Carlos Vargas Pons and the Studio Gallery Parrech, and also learned about the art of marketing at the ITESO University in Guadalajara. The work of José Parra has been published in various books in Mexico, the US, and Europe.

His paintings have been exhibited in Canada, the US, Germany, France, Italy, Denmark, the Netherlands, Poland, Colombia and South Korea. Since 2014 he has organized the exhibition ‘Lotería Mexicana’ together with the French group ’Libellule’ and the Black Coffee Foundation. He is also involved the projects “El Mural del Milenio” and “El Arte del Vino” of MILENIO Arte, and he is the creator of a striking portrait of Fernando del Paso, painted for the National College in Mexico City.

The motif:
Catrina de Velas from José Parra

The artwork ‘Catrina de Velas’ from José Parra shows the Day of the Dead’s most ubiquitous symbol: the famous Calavera Catrina, a traditional Mexican character based on the artwork of José Guadalupe Posada from the early 20th century. On the Day of the Dead, people in Mexico paint their faces to resemble this iconic skull.

But José Parra’s Catrina holds a secret: Is she really one of the many who celebrate the Day of the Dead dressed up as Catrina? Or could it be the real Catrina hiding behind the elegant costume, looking at the list of those who will be her guests on the Day of the Dead, in the flickering light of the candles, each candle representing the life of one guest? The answer is only known by José Parra, born in Guadalajara and artist behind this mesmerizing artwork.

Tequila | Reposado

This year’s Limited Edition is made with female cooperation and dedication to our beloved women. We put all our love and passion into this bottle – 100% blue agave and double-aged in hand-selected bourbon barrels. The bottle’s outstanding design by Laura Garcia Rulfo makes it not only a pleasure for the palate but also for the eyes.

Tequila by women, dedicated to women!
Moreover, it was the united power of women that led to the development of this outrageous tequila. Adriana fell in love with a man and introduced him to the Mexican way of life, the culture, and the passion for tequila. Erika, who is the mastermind behind the Padre Azul tequila, is one of only a few females in this branch but also one of the most talented distillers! Laura created the lovely artwork for this year's edition, comprising love, craftsmanship, and culture into one piece – our limited Artist Edition!

TASTE PROFILE

Double Barrel: The tequila matured in two different American oak barrels. First, it aged for 6 months in an ex-Bourbon barrel, then two additional months in another ex-Bourbon barrel to give it that special final touch. The result is 3000 double-aged bottles filled with liquid gold.

Visual: The spirit appears in a bright straw yellow color with decent golden glints that make it shine. A medium body fills the bottle.

Aromatic: Sweet fruity tones such as peach, yellow apple, and cooked agave are very present. Accompanied by a light chocolate flavor and preserved fruits. The barrels influenced the spirit with great woody and caramel nuances.

Taste: Predominantly cooked agave, as well as barrel aromas with a woody tone and preserved caramel. Soft chocolate, peach, and apple flavors fill the mouth. All in all, very balanced and harmonious!

How to enjoy:
This Double Barrel Reposado is enjoyed best at a temperature between 18°C and 20°C, preferably in a tumbler glass, and by sipping in good company. Allow the spirit to oxygenate for about 15 minutes to develop its best aromas. It also harmonizes well with different meat-based dishes.
